Statistics Faroe Islands does not compile official statistics based on the methodology of the indicator.
(a) However, Statistics Faroe Islands estimates that everyone who has land under their control has ownership rights or secured rights to their land parcels, including agricultural land. This means that everyone has title deeds to their land and has the right to sell it or pass it on through inheritance.However, the Agricultural Agency administers all tenancy farms and is legally authorized to remove tenants if they are found to be in breach of, for example, animal welfare legislation.
(b) No official Faroese statistics exist regarding the proportion of women who hold allodial or leasehold farmlands. However, as of spring 2026, 12.9% of leaseholders are women.
